Reiki

My reiki sessions take place in one of 3 places. My home, your home, or a studio I sometimes use. My home and the studio are in Tinley Park near the corner of 167th and Harlem. Feel free to contact me, or send me a note if you have a preference. Right now Reiki is $60/hour. I will confirm your appointment and the location after I receive it. As always, you can call or text if that is easier. 773-619-2947

When I talk to people who are unfamiliar with Reiki, I get the sense that they are afraid to try it because it’s new and they just don’t know what to expect. Here are some things that you may be wondering. You don’t have to be an expert in getting Reiki done. I am happy to welcome you to this new experience, and answer any questions for you. I was new to this not that long ago myself.

  1. What is Reiki? Reiki is simply using the energy that exists all around us to activate the relaxation and healing response in the body. You may feel like your body is fine or that you’re just under stress, but the body keeps the score. You know that there are electrical charges in pretty much everything. In fact, you probably learned when you were very young that water conducts electricity. Well…your body is over 70% water. With this in mind, we can utilize electricity, or energy, to make sure everything is flowing properly in your body. Energy flows through the practitioner to the person getting Reiki energy.
  2. What does Reiki feel like? It is described a little differently depending on the person. I feel my muscles slowly releasing tension, sometimes, I feel a pulling sensation, or a vibration, or something like waves. I usually get cold, but clients have said that they get very warm. It’s a little different for everyone.
  3. What happens in a Reiki session? Unlike a massage, you stay clothed. So I recommend wearing comfortable clothing. There’s nothing like trying to relax when your pants are pinching you. You will usually be on a massage table or a reclining chair of some sort. Most of the time, they will have dim lighting and soft music. As practitioners, we want to do everything we can to help your body relax easily and stay relaxed, so that your healing response triggers effortlessly. The practitioner will do different hand positions over the body. The amount of time they spend in an area will depend on how your energy is flowing. The practitioner may touch your head or your shoulders, sometimes your feet, but in general, there’s very little touching. The session will usually last an hour and sometimes you will have a short chat before or after. Much of this depends on the practitioner and their intuitive gifts.

I hope this helps you understand a little bit about Reiki, so that you can feel more comfortable walking into it.
